With a good deal of pressure from anglers, salmon conservation groups and the sportfishing industry, HR 2083, The Endangered Salmon and Fisheries Predation Prevention Act, passed through the House of Representatives 288/116. Speaking to the importance of salmon to our region’s economy and culture, this bill had a clean sweep of YES from the entire NW House Delegation.

Now, Senators Cantwell (D-WA) and Risch (R-ID) have introduced a companion bill in the Senate: S. 3119.  NSIA is very optimistic that this bill can pass the Senate – getting us closer to a solution for the number of salmon and steelhead runs being heavily impacted by predation from overabundant sea lions.

Because the Senate Bill is so similar to the House Bill that just passed, unless you ask us to remove your signature, the below letter will be sent to the Senate. If you have not signed the below, and would like to, please respond by C.O.B. on Tuesday July 10th to: office@nsiafishing.org, with:

This letter will be sent to the Senate Commerce Committee, Senate Leadership, and the Northwest Senate delegation:
