NSIA, along with our Columbia Basin coalition partners of fisheries and conservation organizations, sent letters last week to Oregon’s U. S. Representatives Earl Blumenaur (see below), Val Hoyle, and Andrea Salinas, thanking them for their support of President Biden’s “Memorandum on Restoring Healthy and Abundant Salmon, Steelhead, and Other Native Fish Populations in the Columbia River Basin” released in September of this year. The Memorandum called for “a sustained national effort to restore healthy and abundant native fish populations in the Basin.”

The letters applaud the support of these legislators in the critical efforts to save the Columbia Basin salmon populations, We are grateful for your shared commitment to these goals and for pledging to work with the administration, Tribal Nations, and regional stakeholders to put them into action. Your leadership will be critical as the Northwest deepens efforts to recover salmon, invest in communities, and fulfill our obligations to the Tribes.”
