Oregon Representative Cedric Hayden has introduced House Bill 3451 which seeks to transfer the ownership of the Leaburg Hatchery from the Army Corps of Engineers to Oregon State Parks. Hayden notes that the hatchery is an “important piece of natural resource infrastructure in Oregon” playing an important role in sustaining a fishery on the Willamette River. If a new funding method is not found by the end of this legislative session the hatchery is scheduled to close on June 30th.
NSIA has been working on this issue for the past two years, and we wholeheartedly support Rep. Hayden’s endeavor. TIME IS SHORT, SO PICK UP THE PHONE AND EMAIL YOUR LEGISLATORS RIGHT NOW! Let them know how important the Leaburg Hatchery is to your business, employees and customers.
