It’s time for non-tribal gillnetting to end in Oregon and Washington. Please take action TODAY before the Fish and Wildlife Commissions turn the clock back decades.
IN WASHINGTON:
Help Support a Ban of Non-Tribal Gillnets in Washington-Call your Senator Now!
A majority of Washington state Senators co-sponsored Senate Bill 5617 to end the use of non-tribal Gillnets in Washington State by the year 2023. SB 5617 also provides for a voluntary buyout of the gillnet fleet. If you live in Wasington State, please call the Washington State Senate hotline, 800-562-6000, and thank your Senator if they are on the list of supporters below OR encourage a yes vote on SB 5617 if they did not co-sponsor SB 5617. How to find your legislator.
And stay plugged in with ANWS, CCA, NSIA and NWGAA as we work with our allies to get the bill through the long legislative session! Thank you!

IN OREGON:
The pro-commercial Oregon Commission is in a rush to increase gillnetting in the Columbia River before four of the seven Commissioners are termed out this spring. Oregon Commissioners are proposing to allow gillnetts back into the main stem in the spring and the summer and shift a large allocation of fish from recreational anglers to commercial interests. Governor Brown needs to hear from you NOW! Call 503.378.4582 and ask Governor Brown to restore balance to the Commission and NOT ALLOW an increase in main stem gillnetting in the Columbia River. You can also write her here.
