SB 3119: Facts About the Endangered Salmon and Fisheries Predation Protection Act

NSIA has been pushing for years for legislation to offer some relief to the salmon populations in the Columbia Basin that being decimated year after year by increasing numbers of voracious sea lions. Finally this year we are seeing some progress, first with the passage in the U. S. House of Representatives of HR 2083, which would allow lethal take of protected marine mammals that are preying on endangered salmon runs. 

Now, the companion bill in the Senate, SB 3119, has successfully passed out of committee – another positive step towards a solution to this critical issue. The document below offers a good bedrock of information on our current situation and how SB 3119 will address the sea lion predation crisis.
