Salmon need clean, cool water to survive. Balancing the utility and efficiency of our region’s dams with this essential habitat requirement can be complicated. Achieving this balance requires a lot of cooperation between the federal and state agencies. When this cooperation breaks down, the fish suffer. 

NSIA stands in coalition with American Rivers, Columbia Riverkeeper, the Natural Resources Defense Council, the Northwest Sportfishing Industry Association, Pacific Rivers, and Save Our Wild Salmon in condemning the Environmental Protection Agency’s withdrawal of the draft water pollution permits for nine dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers.
